Listen you closed minded idiot, E85 is amazing, I know a few people that drive to NY just to fill a 55 gallon drum at a time of it for his EVO, E85 is an amzing fuel for power/performance but as well as fuel economy/pricing.

I am going to start polls to see who will want to run E85 in CT as I want to run it very badly.

I'm glad to hear that somebody put 3/4 of a tank of e85 in a non-flex fuel car and the engine light came on and it was fine. I put a little under 1/2 a tank of e85 in my car today to save money (bad idea) and the engine light came on after a bit. I'm going to fill up with regular fuel next time I drive the car just to be safe. It seems to be running fine though. I kind of assumed my car would be fine because its an 05 (Focus)...didn't realize how small the list of cars that can use e85 was! Whoops. Surprised its not more standard.

The biggest Problem with ethanol in older cars is with rubber bases hoses and o-rings. You may not realize it but alcohol is very damaging to petroleum based rubber and over time the alcohol will eat the fuel lines and o-rings in the fuel system causing leaks and eventually failure of the fuel system which at best, lowers performance and at worse, can cause the car to catch fire.

electronically controlled engines can adjust for the change in octane but carburetors need to be rebuilt with proper jets to adjust for the increase in fuel consumption.

That's exactly what the left wingers want. They want you to be in debt with a new car/truck so that they can start taxing you more if you don't buy new or into their way of thinking. It's propaganda.

e85 isn't the answer at all. Ethanol is made from what? Corn and water. Right? Well, how much water from the aquifer do you think it's going to take for this to become the new standard in gasoline formulation?

Depletion of the aquifer is serious business and depleting it to the levels that will be required to make ethanol, is very dangerous.

Have you ever read in your history books or seen a movie or documentary about the dust bowl of the Midwest in the early twentieth century? Probably not. They don’t teach history in school any more. They teach an agenda that is also dangerous to our way of life.

I’ll keep my 10-15 year old plus vehicles just the way they are thank you. You can keep your e85 vehicle up your ---.

I’ll NEVER buy into what they’re trying to cram down my throat about this farce! How deep is yours Timmy Boy?

I own a Hyundai 01 Sonata, it is not an e85 vehicle but my owners manual says "gashol" is ok. Driving performance will suffer if more than 10% ethanol blend is used. OK I can take a performance hit to go to work and school. We have two stations in St. Louis that sell E85. I just topped off from a 3/4 tank(regular) with E85 and no engine light has come on yet. Going to try 1/2 tank regular and 1/2 E85. I read else where somebody's wife filled up from a 1/4 tank regular with E85 it was the cheapest at the station! LOL! The guy said engine light came on but car continued to run normally...I believe he had a Honda accord ? civic ... Makes you wonder ? ? ?

Most of these gas saving ideas are simply common sense.

But when I read the list, common sense things stuck out that I just forgot about.

I'd have to say cruise control is one of the common sense things.

Awesome list.

I live in north phoenix 85032 zip code and commute to Mesa,AZ to work 5 days a week. If anyone has any information that will be helpful to me let me know.
Heh, hauling around about a hundred or so pounds of tools in my pickup truck might not be the best idea I've had.

I probably use a hammer or a screwdriver out of the lot a few times a year.

If I remove all the useless tools, I wonder how much gas I'll save...
